Trip Overview

Nepal is home to 8 of the highest mountain peaks in the world including the tallest Everest. This itinerary will enable you to view most at close quarters including Mount Everest. Your journey by private helicopter will also allow you to experience the varied and fascinating landscapes, peoples, mystical towns and cities that this remarkable country has to offer. One of the main highlights of the trip will be your private helicopter flight to the mystical kingdom of Mustang where the helicopter will land outside the walled town. We will then have a meeting with the Raja or King of Mustang in his house. Your guide for the trip will be someone who has climbed Everest and has an intimate knowledge of both Eastern and Western peaks.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu

Upon arrival and completion of immigration formalities at Kathmandu airport you will be met by your representative and escorted to your hotel, which is located 20 minutes from the airport. Once you have had the opportunity to freshen up, you will be escorted to the temple complex of Boudinath. The complex is located 15 minutes from the hotel. Boudinath is one of the largest Stupas in Asia and is home to some 10000 Tibetan refugees. Surrounding the Stupa there are many colourful Tibetan shops and tea houses. Upon your return to the hotel, there will be a chance to freshen up before a full briefing on your program. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel.

Day 2: Pokhara [ Mt. Everest and Pokhara Helicopter flight]

This morning you will be met at the hotel by your Everest Summiteer for an early breakfast before your helicopter picks you up for your flight to the Everest region. Your flight will last approximately 3 ½ hours. You will stop in Lukla the gateway to Everest to off load fuel. You will then spend 30 minutes flying up the valley where you will overfly Gokyo lake, Everest and Amadablan base camps. You will land at Kongde [4250m or 14000 ft] from where there are superb views of Everest and the surrounding peaks. You also land at Tengboche [3860m or 12664 ft] where we will have time to visit the famous monastery. We then return to Lukla to take on fuel before flying back to Kathmandu. As with the outbound flight, there will be spectacular mountain views along the way. Your summiteer / guide will provide you with additional insight into the culture of the region as well as having an intimate knowledge of the mountains. Upon your return, we have lunch. In the afternoon, your guide will accompany on your private 45 minute helicopter flight to Pokhara. The route follows Nepal’s Western mountain ranges and weather permitting you will see Langtang, Manaslu, Lamjung and Annapurna ranges before landing in Pokhara which is situated at an altitude of 2900 feet. We will also overfly Gorkha the ancient capital of Nepal. Your hotel is located 5 minutes from the airport and has stunning views of entire Annapurna range including the magnificent and unclimbed Machhapuchhare mountain which stands at 23000 feet. In the evening, you will be taken on a short 10 minute drive to the lakeside which is lined by many Tibetan run souvenir shops. Dinner will be at Bistro Caroline a delightful restaurant set on the lakeside.

Day 3: Kathmandu [Mustang, Annapurna base camp helicopter flight. Visit Pashupatinath]

In the early morning we return to our helicopter with your guide for your 3 ½ hour helicopter flight. We overfly the magnificent Rhododendron forests before continuing over the Kali Gandaki river which is situated in the deepest gorge in the world. The Kali Gandaki valley is one of theold trading routes to and from Tibet We then enter the barren moonscape of Mustang situated below the Tibetan plateau. We then approach the fortified town of Lo Mantang situated at an altitude of 3800M / 12540 ft. Landing, we proceed into the walled town and are escorted to the King’s house which is protected by large Tibetan Mastiff dogs. Tea with the King follows. We then proceed to visit to visit 2 temples which contain centuries old Buddhist frescoes. The helicopter then proceeds to overfly the Annapurna base camp where wind permitting we will land to take photographs of the surrounding peaks. If we are unable to land, we will land in Ghandruk a village from where there are magnificent views of the Annapurna range. We then return to Pokhara for re fuelling and continuing on to Kathmandu. There will be a late lunch at the hotel. In the late afternoon, there is an optional escorted trip to the temple complex of Pashupatinath. Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal and is one of the most important Shiva temples on the sub continent. Dinner tonight is at a restaurant which is located in the converted stables of a former ruling Rana. The complex has a number of shops and a choice of either continental or Nepalese food depending on your wishes.

Day 4: Kathmandu. [Bhaktapur, Durbar Square and Thamel]

Today After breakfast, you will be escorted with your guide for the 40 minute drive to the medieval town of Bhaktapur where all the artisans of the Kathmandu valley practice their crafts. The town allows no vehicle access so walking around is a pleasure. The town is the most medieval and least modernized of the three ancient capital cities. Here you will visit the Nyatapola Temple, the tallest in Nepal and a fine example of Nepalese architecture and craftsmanship. Nyatapola which means five stories, was built by King Bhupatindra Malla in 1708. You will also visit the Palace of Fifty-five Windows with its famous Barking Bell and the Golden Gate, which is said to be the most beautiful and richly molded gate of its kind in the Orient. We then return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be escorted to Kathmandu Durbar square home of the living Goddess and the old Royal Palace. We then walk for 30 minutes through the winding streets to the tourist area of Thamel which is the center for many varied shops and restaurants. Drinks will be at Rumdoodles, with your summiteer. This is a well known restaurant to mountaineers. Any climber who has ascended one of the major peaks has his or her signature on one of the walls. Dinner will follow at a restaurant in a converted traditional house nearby in the tourist area.

Day 5: Depart Kathmandu, B

Time permitting, your guide will accompany you for any last minute shopping before escorting you to the airport for your onward flight.
